Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the distinct science of inserting very very small needles into myofascial tissue in just the right places in order to stimulate movement within the pathways of the body. Myofascial tissue or fascia is a network of tissue spreading throughout the body, connecting muscles and joints and bones, supporting organs and blood vessels. Receptive fields in the fascia help conduct energy, move blood and create fluid balances. These, in turn, affect health issues on physical, mental and emotional levels, allowing the body to “balance itself” and heal.
Herbs
Acupuncturists use herbs similar to how western medicine uses pharmaceuticals. These are potent, life-changing herbs, combining just the right amount of clearing, building, healing, moving affects that are unique to support each individual patient’s needs. A thorough and in-depth analysis of each patient includes detailed intakes and diagnosis, and a prescribed formula from a reputable compounding company. Typically, the cost of an herbal formula is much less than pharmaceuticals and your acupuncturist will be on call to ensure it is supporting your health correctly.
Healing Arts and Health Consultations
Often, acupressure, essential oils, medicinal teas, gua sha, and cupping are used as a supportive part of your treatment at Pinduka. If recommended by your acupuncturist, these will be introduced with descriptions and rationale (free of charge), so you will be able to ask questions before signing an informed consent. Often, lifestyle modifications may also be recommended as part of your therapy under the supervision of your acupuncturist. Other specialized health modalities for pain such as PEMF healing and Far Infrared Light Treatments may be used as needed and will be billed per use. Your acupuncturist will go over each expense and have you sign an informed consent prior.
Our practice also includes a medical library of healing modalities from around the world. Patients are invited to use the books for their own research and Dr. Greta Pursley is on call for health consultations or to assist in translating research into understandable language. Your quest awaits!
